San Francisco Bond Club

Est. 1929

The San Francisco Bond Club, one of the oldest organizations of its type in the country, was founded in 1929. The club was the result of the merger of the Investment Bankers Club and The San Francisco Bond Sales Managers Club. The purpose then and now is to enhance the investment business in our city, promote compliance with the highest ethical standards and to provide a forum for leaders of the securities industry to meet and form long-lasting friendships.

Originally, membership was limited to executives of the investment banking firms and the bond departments of dealer banks. An occasional bond attorney or other dignitary became an honorary member. As the industry grew and diversified, the Bond Club followed suit, amending the constitution to allow membership to qualified men and women in such related businesses as investment counseling, mutual fund executives, ETF executives, Option traders, Commodity traders, family office executives, hedge fund PM’s and officers.

Our annual agenda includes distinguished speakers, a Spring Golf Outing to the Silverado Country Club. The club has partnered with the Guardsmen to join in The Big Game Lunch which features coaches, players and bands from California and Stanford. A day game with World Champion Giants during the summer has become a sold out event that is hosted by Franklin Templeton. We have also had lunches at the San Francisco Federal Reserve, joint meetings with the Security Analysts Society, trips to military installations and charitable support of Bay Area organizations. At the Holiday Luncheon the Hobbs Merle Memorial Award is presented to a member who over the years has contributed in an outstanding way to the activities of the club. The prestigious Arnold Grunigen, Jr. Perpetual Trophy, decided on by our board of directors, will be awarded to the “Outstanding Investment Professional of the year”.
